Fleet Meeting – Jan 25 at 4pm

Join us for our Annual Fleet 8 Meeting this Sun to discuss this year’s sailing season. We’ll be back on the water sooner than you think (unless you are Frostbiting and getting a head start on the rest of us)!

When: January 25
Time: 5pm (we might move it earlier to 4pm if the club is open…so check your email this week)
Where: Boatyard Bar & Grill
*Drinks and snacks will be provided.
Agenda items include:
-2015 Sailing Calendar
-Election of Fleet Officers
-Discussion of changes or improvements we can make to our sailing & racing experience this year
-2015 J24 Worlds Regatta Highlights by Tony Parker

As we all know, interest in weekend racing has waned in the last several years. Our discussion will include focusing our participation on fewer events; potential changes to the formats to improve interest; and the potential for more evening vs. weekend day races. It’s your sport & your passion, so come & join in the conversation!

Please RSVP to Pat FitzGerald if you or a member of your crew are able to attend. See you Sun!

SSA Fall Series – Results

We had a classic day of fall racing on the Chesapeake this past Sunday for the SSA Fall Series. Puffy breeze out of the north for the first race, with huge right shifts for the second and third races. One of the upwind legs of the third race had a 60 degree shift to the right! The race committee had their work cut out for them with the changing breeze, and did a great job getting off three four-leg windward leeward races.

Peter Rich won the day, finishing first in all three races. Spaceman Spiff finished second, with Rush Hour finishing third.

Next up…AYC Fall Series Oct 4, 11 and 12th. See you on the starting line!

SSA Fall Series – This Sun!

Thanks to everyone who attended the J-World awards and our Fleet party on the last Thursday night. It was a beautiful evening and I think everyone had a great time!

Don’t forget about the SSA one-day fall regatta this Sunday. If you are suffering from Thursday evening racing withdrawal this will be the perfect elixir. It’s easy – meet at SSA at 930 to fill-out an entry & participate in a skipper’s meeting; first gun at 1100; 2-4 races with weather legs between 1/2 and 3/4 mile.

Call the crew and let’s go sailing on Sunday!
