Thank you to Geoff Becker from North Sails, who joined Fleet 8 last Thursday for week two of our Sail with a Pro series. He sailed with Kevin McKee and the crew on Jabb and then held a great Dock Talk after racing at SSA.
Geoff had great advice on everything from on-shore tuning to heavy air sailing. Thanks so much for joining us and we can’t wait to have you back again soon!

A big thanks to Allan Terhune Jr and Quantum Sails for flying down our buddy Travis Odenbach from Rochester to join Fleet 8 for TNR last week. Travis sailed with Jim Biles and the crew on Spizz for the two races, then joined the fleet at Severn Sailing Association to discuss rig set up, breeze and tactics.

East Coast Championship
We kicked off the planning for this year’s combined J/24 & J/22 East Coast Championship with a meeting last Tues. Mark Rivera and Jason Goscha are the respective J/24 and J/22 regatta chairs. If you are planning to sail the ECCs, please let me know-it will help with our planning over the next few months. If you are not planning to sail, we would still like to have Fleet 8 members participate and support our big regatta! Want to volunteer to help plan or assist during the regatta? Or, maybe just join us at the beer truck? Let us know! This is our annual fleet event and we want to make this fun for everyone.

Shearwater Twilight Race – June 20, 2015
The entry fee is $35 for US Sailing members and $40 for all others. Links are below for the NOR and online entry through Regatta Network.
The first J/24 Fleet Party of the season is this Thurs after racing at SSA! Menu includes pulled pork, teriyaki chicken, watermelon, assorted side dishes, draft beers, wine and soda. RSVP by tomorrow to Pat FitzGeraldand come join the fun!
The weather this past weekend was gorgeous for the Annapolis NOOD, but gave competitors a run for their money with the variable wind conditions. Friday was relatively breezy, then Saturday brought very light air. The only race for the day was abandoned after the race committee shortened the J24 course to only two legs. The picture above shows very light air on Sunday, but enough to get in two races.
Pat FitzGerald’s Rush Hour finished first overall with scores of 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 2. Ron Medlin and Bash from South Carolina finished second, with Mark Rivera & J-Team taking the number three spot. Racing was incredibly tight in all of the races, with the lead switching often between boats.
Next up is the Race to St. Michaels on Sat, May 23. Registration is open and we hope to see you out on the water!
